Sensei Brian "Skippy" Whipps 6th Dan,
Sensei Ted Haywood 5th Dan,
Sensei Roy Smith 5th Dan.
Sensei Roy Smith started Aikido with the Torii-Aiki-Ryu in May 1977 under the tutelage of Sensei Brian Whipps. At the time Sensei Smith was working towards his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award and decided to do Aikido for the 18 months required for one of the sections of the award. Something went wrong with his time keeping because his is still training and teaching. Sensei Smith has an open mind with regards to what other people and other arts can offer to compliment his Aikido. He studied Lau Gar Kung Fu for three years, but now his influences are mainly from other styles of Aikido and various Ju Juitsu schools.
Sensei Smith now runs the Torii-Aiki-Ryu in Birmingham.
